About

Christa Maria Seiler, born and raised in New York to a Swiss father and American mother, comes from a multicultural history and heritage. Christa has always been extremely connected to nature, the planet and animals, having grown up with two older brothers and spending all her free time with the family dogs and in the magnificent treehouse that her grandfather built for her.

 

“My grandfather built me the most incredible treehouse that had windows which opened onto our garden, overlooking the swimming pool and the immaculate rose gardens which my Mom kept, He even built the most incredible porch circling around the whole treehouse. My Mom and I sewed red and white checkered curtains with added ruffles for my windows and I built two tiny chairs and a wobbly table to have my tea parties.”

 

Having saved all sorts of orphaned and abandoned animals even as a young girl, and having spent many years living in the Algarve, Portugal with her own family, she knew that animal welfare was always part of her life and has been deeply involved in the rescuing of abused horses, donkeys, dogs and cats for over 30 years.

SMVC

In 2005 Christa founded the Swiss Mobile Veterinary Clinic with the aim of treating severely neglected and abused animals with expertise of qualified Swiss and German vets. The SMVC functions as a mobile vet clinic, which is fully equipped with medication and can also treat animals directly in the fields and wherever needed. The Swiss Mobile Veterinary Clinic operates as a 24 hour rescue service and is well established throughout Portugal, receiving requests for help from locals as well as tourists visiting the Algarve who call and give the location of animals spotted that need immediate help. Should she and her team not be in the Algarve then she contacts a local vet and pays them for their medical help. Her education in the States in Finance and then Art has given her the necessary skills of combining them for her goals in her projects with animals rescue and also her deeply rooted passion for interior design, which she has been doing for over 30 years with great success and expertise.

 

The Swiss Mobile Vet Clinic continues its medical support in Portugal every year and is based in the Algarve. It is extremely important, especially since Covid hit hard and many people have very little ability to take any kind of adequate measures for the neglected animals. The SMVC is also heavily involved in rehoming animals that have been forgotten. They are nursed to their full strength and constantly supervised and when they are healthy enough, are rehomed by the team in Switzerland and Germany.

Dressage and Breeding

Further to her love for rescuing animals of all sorts, she has had great success as a dressage rider for over three decades and also as a renowned breeder. She has approved and licensed Dressage stallions and Elite breeding mares with famous blood lines. Her foals are all Elite awarded dressage foals and her ambition for continuous success in the dressage world is her great determination. Her love and respect of horses and their well being is foremost on her agenda and of greatest concern. She is a member of the Oldenburger, Westfalen, KWPN, DSP and Baden-Württemberg Associations.

    • Swiss Interior Design

    Additionally she built up her own interior design company, having projects throughout Europe. In the past twenty years she has had the pleasure of building many houses for family and private clients, as well has recently having done a fantastic Boutique Hotel. Enjoying the full free reign of the architectural planning and interior design. This has lead to many people seeing her projects, as well as gaining respect in the field and having many subsequent building and interior decorating contracts to date.
